Game rule options
Mexican Train is played slightly differently by every family, so the host can adjust the rules when creating a game. Here’s each option in plain English, and what changes if you switch it. All of these are chosen at setup — see How to create a game for where they live.

Starting round
Which double the game begins with — 12-12 by default. Starting lower makes for a shorter game.
Who goes first
The winner of the previous round (the default), or a random player each round.
Train branching on doubles
On by default. Once a double is covered, the train can split into two branches you can both play on. Turn it off and trains stay as a single line, which is simpler to follow.
Must satisfy doubles during the game
On by default. A played double locks the turn until it’s covered. Turn it off and doubles behave like any other domino.
Must satisfy doubles to go out
On by default. Nobody can end the round while an uncovered double is on the table. This is independent of the setting above — you can have either one on or off. See Doubles explained.
Double-zero penalty
Extra points for whoever is left holding the 0-0 domino at the end of a round. Anywhere from 0 to 50, in steps of 5. Zero by default.
Dominoes per player
Standard dealing (15, 11 or 8 depending on how many are playing), or a fixed number you choose.
Personal settings, not game rules
A few things are yours alone and don’t affect anyone else — Safe Mode, Show play hints, element size, colors and sounds. You can change those at any time during a game from Display settings in the in-game menu.
